Lagoa/Carvoeiro

Carvoeiro / Lagoa region of the
Algarve is a

in Lagoa/Carvoeiro, Portugal
The best way
to discover the diverse coastline and to get your bearings is to hire a boat and
a captain, and cruise down the coast, stopping off at secluded beaches and
fishing villages. These can be taken from Carvoeiro or Benagil beach. Also out
on the waves, the deep sea fishing is sensational, with the opportunity of
catching marlin, swordfish, billfish, tuna, giant conga and blue, mako and
hammer-head sharks.
If you are
looking for a
golfing holiday,
there are some demanding courses in the area, the
Vale de Milho,
Vale de Pinta
and Quinta do Gramacho are all 18 hole courses open to the public. There is also
plenty to entertain any children on holiday in the Lagoa region, with Krazy
World, mini golf, swimming pools, petting farms, quad bikes, horse riding,
tennis and horse riding.

holiday in the Carvoeiro/Lagoa region
The nice
thing with this area is that a rented holiday villa here does not stop you
enjoying everything there is to see on the coast. There are very good transport
links, and everything is relatively close.
Carvoeiro is a
charming town nestles in a bay, with cliffs on either side. It is a fantastic
base to enjoy the region. For slightly more secluded destinations,
Ferragudo is a
quite fishing village a few miles down the coast, on an un-spoilt beach, and
Sesmarias is in
a conservation area, which prohibits further development, meaning it will retain
its quiet coastal village feel for many years.
Rocha Brava,
whilst being a lively beach resort, has been developed with conservation very
much in mind. The buildings are all single storey, and there are huge amounts of
green open spaces, trees and even an artificial lake. This is an ideal resort
for young families, as there baby sitting facilities and plenty of activities.
Finally, for
those with a fascination in the destinations history and culture, Silves is the
town you are looking for. The remains of the castle are a good starting point
for discovery.

Lagoa/Carvoeiro
Temperatures
in the winter are still around 16˚C, and the summers are hot and dry, averaging
around 30˚C. However, visitors are reminded that the nights can still get pretty
cold, so a jumper is suggested!

to Faro (FAO) which is the closest international airport to the region. British
